World Environment Day: How to Celebrate This Occasion

World Environment Day Spreading Bliss

5th June is annually celebrated as World Environment Day. It was established in the United Nations General Assembly in 1972. It has grown to become one of the largest global platforms for environmental action, with tens of millions of people participating in the day every year.

This year the focus is on land restoration, desertification and drought resilience. To observe World Environment Day, here is what you can do to mark this eventful occasion.

Organizing a Tree plantation is one of the most obvious and impactful ways to celebrate World Environment Day. Trees reduce greenhouse gases and save the ozone layer from shrinking. You can gather a group of people to form a tree plantation event in your community.

Beaches, parks and other public areas are littered with filth. You can also organize a clean-up drive to solve this problem. These waste pick-up drives will help protect the environment and save countless marine lives.

Most people are still ignorant of how big the climate crisis is actually. You can take a step forward and host an environmental educational event. You can invite prominent environmentalists to speak and educate the masses at this event.

You can also commit to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and encourage others to do the same. You or your friends can also take time to appreciate nature by hiking, having a picnic in the park, or exploring a local nature reserve.

Various conservation organizations are working for a better future, but these institutions are often underfunded. You can lend a helping hand to them and make a donation to these struggling organizations. Charity begins at home, so you can commit to using as little energy as possible by shutting down electrical appliances when not in use.

However, personal actions do little to make a big difference. The main culprits in the environmental disasters are corporate giants who emit more carbon emissions than anyone else. You can advocate for these multinational companies to make a difference by protesting or signing petitions.

And lastly, you can share on social media to make people aware. Your social media presence is detrimental to making a big change. So share whatever you can find on environmental issues.
